Nov. 18 — Free “All-Electric Homes” Events Empower Tri-County Residents to Address the Climate Crisis

CENTRAL COAST — This November, 3C-REN (Tri-County Regional Energy Network) is hosting two free webinars on all-electric homes, which use electricity instead of fossil fuels for energy needs such as heating and cooking and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. As state climate policy moves California to a zero-carbon future, education about building electrification is critical to eliminate fossil fuels and protect our environment.

These virtual events are designed for community members, homeowners, design and construction professionals, and anyone interested in learning about what home electrification is, what technologies make it possible, and resources available to support it.

“Central Coast residents are dealing with hotter summers and other impacts of climate change. We’re working to support households who want to switch homes away from fossil fuels to make them healthier, more comfortable and lower costs for changing conditions,” said 3C-REN Program Manager Alejandra Tellez.

The one-hour workshops will be presented by an architect and contractor team, with time for questions.

Sessions are currently scheduled via Zoom on the following dates.

Attendees will learn about:

  • The context and reasoning behind California’s commitment to all-electric construction
  • Health and comfort benefits of moving away from fossil fuels
  • How to identify essential electric appliances for resilience in a changing climate
  • Costs and potential trade-offs in electrification home upgrades
  • Avoiding expensive pitfalls

Whether you’re exploring all-electric strategies for a new home, looking to transition your current home, or in the construction trades, these events will get you started with all-electric living. From heat pumps to solar panels, battery back-up to induction cooktops, we’ll talk about benefits, special considerations, and hands-on logistics for gas-free homes.

3C-REN will schedule dedicated presentations for 20 or more anticipated attendees, either online or in-person (depending on current safety protocols). The All-Electric Homes presentation can be made available in Spanish. To schedule a session, contact Itzel Torres, Itzel.Torres@ventura.org.
