THOUSAND OAKS — Clothing is a means of self expression. From the desire to look professional, stylish or modest to expressing a concept, culture or religious belief, we tell the world who we are by the clothes we choose to wear.
Join the California Museum of Art Thousand Oaks (CMATO) for Family Art Day with our friends from CReATE Studio as we create rustic dolls and clothing in the spirit of empathy using recycled and found objects. This hands-on creative session complements CMATO’s current exhibition, “Empathy: Beneath the Surface” and is inspired by featured artist, Simphiwe Ndzube, whose work with second-hand clothing informs his creativity and artistic practice.
CMATO and CReATE Studio will also be collecting clothes for a local nonprofit – donate your gently used items to help others in our community!
