‘Night in Oaxaca’ to be held Aug. 9 in Oxnard

OXNARD — The Mixecto / Indigena Community Organizing Project will present its fourth annual “Night in Oaxaca” fundraising, awards and cultural celebration beginning at 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 9 at the Oxnard Performing Arts Center, 800 Hobson Way, Oxnard.

“Join us this year to honor leaders and traditions of the International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples,” the organization asked in a media release.

The event will feature a traditional mole dinner, music, art, dancing, a local artisan marketplace, Oaxacan chocolate tasting, the honoring of the 2014 Tequio Youth Scholars and recognition of indigenous community successes.

Proceeds from the event benefit the programs of MICOP.
