New Director of Ventura County Airports Selected

VENTURA — Keith Freitas has been selected to run the County’s airports in Camarillo and Oxnard. The appointment as Director of Airports was made by County Executive Officer Mike Powers. The selection included a national search garnering 45 applicants and a hiring panel comprised of community members from the Camarillo and Oxnard Airport Authority, Aviation Advisory Commission, a representative of the California Airports Council as well as the Assistant CEO and Community Liaison.

“Keith brings more than 30 years of combined airport management experience. He also understands the importance of community engagement and building trust with the community,” said County Executive Officer Mike Powers. “His experience in master plan development and in strengthening partnerships and communication with all stakeholders will be a benefit for our airports and our community members.”

Keith has served at Long Beach Municipal, Mineta San Jose International and Contra Costa County (Buchanan Field and Byron) airports. He is designated by the American Association of Airport Executives as an Accredited Airport Executive. He holds both FAA Private Pilot and Remote Pilot certificates. Keith brings experience with community outreach having led a Master Plan process in Contra Costa. The process included over 22 community meetings and concluded with strong Board and community support.

Keith will begin his new position serving our community on November 8, 2021.
