Dear Community,
The Museum of Ventura County and the Agriculture Museum in Santa Paula are reopening to members only beginning on Saturday, October 31! We have a new reservations and ticketing system in place to regulate the amount of traffic in the galleries, as well as limited operational days and hours.

We have extended our exhibits through the end of the year. Please read on to learn about what exciting things you’re about to see in our galleries as you return to the museum.

Días de los Muertos Community Altar
at the Museum of Ventura County!
In celebration of Día de los Muertos, the Museum of Ventura County invites our community members to view the Museum of Ventura County’s Día de los Muertos Community Altar from Saturday, October 31—Tuesday, November 3, 2020 from 10AM—5PM.
Social distancing practices will be in place. Masks are required.

Días de los Muertos in Ventura County!
Día de los Muertos is perhaps one of the most commonly known and widely celebrated holidays across Latin America, with a special significance amongst Mexican communities in particular. This holiday commemorates not only our loved ones who have passed on, but also emphasizes death as an integral, ever-present part of life. Rather than it being a day of mourning and sadness, however, it is a time of celebration! Not only does it provide the opportunity to teach children about their ancestors and cultural heritage, but it also serves as a reminder that we must accept our own mortality…and that we can have fun while doing so!
Vote Early at the
The Museum of Ventura County’s Martin V. and Martha K. Smith Pavilion will serve as an early voting site for the 2020 election. For more information, please visit the official County of Ventura Elections site.

The Museum of Ventura County and the Ventura Botanical Garden is thrilled to host 14 regional artists in our first-ever collaborative exhibit, Arte Forastero. Sculptures and installation works have been installed in the Botanical Gardens nursery and lower trails and in the Museum’s outdoor Plaza along Main Street in Downtown Ventura.
Members of the Museum of Ventura County and Members of the Ventura Botanical Gardens receive free entry at both locations for the duration of the exhibit! Members of the Ventura Botanical Gardens will receive free admission to both the Ventura Museum (100 E. Main St.) and the Santa Paula Agriculture Museum (926 Railroad Ave., Santa Paula).
Arte Forastero is on display now through November 30, 2020.

Santa Paula Sojourn:
A Solo Exhibition by Shannon Celia
From 2017 to 2019, painter Shannon Celia made it her mission to capture the unique “nooks and crannies” of small town Santa Paula, California. Her journey has culminated in a solo exhibition entitled Santa Paula Sojourn, currently on view at the Santa Paula Art Museum through January 31, 2021. All of the artworks in the exhibit are for sale.
 The finished series includes 35 paintings featuring 20 different locations around Santa Paula. One of Celia’s favorite spots to explore was Limoneira Ranch where she was accompanied by a longtime Limoneira Company employee. Afterwards, Celia’s guide remarked that seeing the ranch through the artist’s eyes made her fall back in love with the place.
