Grab lunch and head over to the Museum, every Thursday between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., for music and free entry to the galleries. Enjoy your lunch break in one of our colorful patio chairs while you listen to local musicians, then take a stroll through the museum’s rotating exhibits.

The Museum of Ventura County is located at 100 E. Main Street, Ventura.
The Agriculture Museum presents an afternoon of storytelling through song, noon – 5 p.m., September 22. Produced in conjunction with local artist, musician and founder of De Colores Music and the De Colores Art Show, Xavier Montes, the Folk Music Festival will feature Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter Misa Della alongside three original songwriters and musicians from Ventura County: J. Peter Boles, Donna Lynn Caskey and Paul Belgum. The Agriculture Museum is located at 926 Railroad Avenue in Santa Paula. The event is free and open to the public.
The Museum of Ventura County and the Ventura Film Society will co-present the Museum Matinee Series as part of the exhibit At Table: The Business of Food and Community. The first in the series isCity of Gold, a documentary about Pulitzer Prize-winning, Los Angeles food critic Jonathan Gold as he explores the cultural, historical, economical and diversity of Los Angeles’ culinary culture. City of Gold will be shown at 1 p.m. on September 23. A concession will available with boxed candy, bagged popcorn, and soft drinks for purchase. Admission is $5 for members (both Museum members and Film Society members) and $10 for non-members. The film will be shown in the Museum’s Smith Pavilion, 100 E. Main Street, Ventura.
The Museum of Ventura County will host an opening reception from 2 – 4 p.m.,September 29, celebrating the life of Ventura artist and publisher Joe Cardella.Joe Cardella and ARTLIFE Magazinepresents a retrospective of Cardella’s life as an artist, sculptor and carver, as well as his role as publisher of ARTLIFE Limited Editions, the internationally recognized fine art publication he produced by hand from 1981 to 2006. Cardella, an integral part of Ventura’s arts community, recently passed away from cancer.
Immediately following the opening, ARTLIFE magazine contributors will come together from 4 – 7 p.m. to honor Cardella’s legacy in shared poetry as published in the periodical between 1981-2006. The reading will be hosted by Ventura County Poet Laureate Phil Taggart and Friday Gretchen.
The event takes place in the Martin V. and Martha K. Smith Pavilion at the Museum of Ventura County, 100 E. Main St., Ventura. Admission is free.
The exhibit will be on display through November 10.
