Santa Paula’s Treasured Architecture Opening Reception
March 16 @ 1 p.m. The Ag Museum in Santa Paula will host an opening reception to celebrate the opening of Santa Paula’s Treasured Architecture, an exhibit that explores the local architectural highlights in the community spanning over thirty years.
March 17 @ 3 p.m. Focus on the Masters continues its residency at the Museum of Ventura County with artist Astrid Preston, a recipient of the NEA Fellowship Grant in 1987 whose work is on display in many public and private collections.
March 19 @ 7:30 p.m. Join the Ventura Film Society for a special screening of “Black 47”. The first film ever made about Ireland’s Potato Famine, the most impactful event in Irish history.
Ventura Film Society presents “Wind That Shakes the Barley”
March 21 @ 7:30 p.m. Join the Ventura Film Society for a special screening of “The Wind That Shakes the Barley”. A Ken Loach film starring Cillian Murphy about two brothers who join the IRA in the Irish War for Independence, but take different sides.
Speaking of Ventura County Series feat. David LaBelle
March 23 @ 3 p.m. Returning to his roots, renowned photojournalist David LaBelle will appear in Ventura to commemorate two intersecting golden anniversaries and introduce his new book chronicling them.
March 24 @ 2 p.m. A powerful panel discussion in support of the exhibit “Broken: A Holocaust History in fused Glass”, feat. Celina Biniaz, Inga Boldt, Lee Edwards, and Frances Elson, and Donna Granata.
March 31 @ 2 p.m. Join us at the Museum of Ventura County for a lecture by acclaimed, award winning international author, lecturer, and journalist. Dr. Beverly Russell (AIAVC Allied Member).
April 4 @ 6 p.m. Join us for a panel discussion about what architects bring to the community, moderated by Mark Di Cecco, AIA (2018 AIAVC President). Admission is $5 for members of the Museum, $10 for nonmembers.
April 12 @ 6 p.m. In support of the exhibit “Broken: A Holocaust History in fused Glass”, artist Frances Elson takes visitors through the gallery to share stories.
The exhibit consists of six beautifully detailed and touching glass panels, as well as a book of poetry by Frances Elson’s sister, a memoir to her great-uncle, a compilation of Cantorial and Yiddish music, and much more.
This collection of figures represents key personalities from Chinese history. From the Manchus who crossed the Great Wall and formed the Qing Dynasty, to the Nationalists and Communists who came after them and founded modern China.
Design in the Making is a community Architectural Exhibit exploring the dynamic role of architects and designers in affecting positive change in our community through the creative design process.
This legendary Rock and Roll Hall of Famer has loaned the museum for display some of the memorabilia collected in his six decade long career as a musician, singer and songwriter.
Featuring an introduction to some of the birds of Ventura County, fun bird facts, bird sounds, eggs and nests of all shapes, sizes and colors, and a bird and egg touch table.
Visitors will discover the local history of farm implement manufacturers with factories in Oxnard that were instrumental in the development of the exhibit items on display.
The Journal of Ventura County’s newest edition, “The Remarkable Life of Lorenzo Dow Chillson”, is now available for sale in the Museum’s store. The Journal was made possible by a generous donation from Charles J. Rennie, III of Rancho Palos Verdes.
