The Agriculture Museum of Ventura County in Santa Paula kicks off its Summer Concert Series 7 to 9 p.m.on Friday, July 6, with the authentic Cajun music of Fontenot, Pappion & Plauche’.
These popular musicians capture the catchy and infectious beats oftraditional Louisiana music and are sure to lead you to the dance floor!
Lead singer and accordion player Joe Fontenot of L’ Anse Grise, Louisiana was influenced at a young age by his father’s close friend and legendary Creole accordionist and singer, Am’ede’ Ardion. Self-taught on his family’s guitar and harmonica at the age of 13, Fontenot would turn to the accordion later in life. As jobs dried up in Louisiana in the mid-1950’s, Fontenot migrated to Los Angeles and was soon working with such legendary artists as Joe Simien, Wilfred Latour and Ambrose “Sweet Potato” Sam. Today, Fontenot carries on the Creole tradition of sharing the memories and sounds of his Louisiana roots through music.
Tickets are $10 for general admission; $5 for members and children under 12.

Kyle Thille of Ventura Coast Brew Company will be the featured speaker,Tuesday, July 10, from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at the Agriculture Museum of Ventura County.
The birthplace of the craft beer movement, California boasts over 900 breweries, making it home to more breweries than any other state. Kyle will share the history of craft beer in California and the Ventura County area, as well as his experiences establishing and operating a flourishing brewery in downtown Ventura.
A native of Ventura County and a graduate of Ventura High School, Kyle discovered his love of beer making while attending a class at the University of California, Davis’ prestigious brewing program. He graduated from Davis with a degree in Computer Sciences, yet he could not shake his desire to be part of the craft beer culture. Returning home, Kyle set out to open his own brewery where he could focus on high quality beer styles that appeal to craft beer novices and experts alike. In 2016, Ventura Coast Brew Company opened its doors and continues to push creative trends in brewing.

The ancient city of Teotihuacan flourished in central Mexico in the first millennium CE. This multi-ethnic, cosmopolitan city was the largest urban center in the Americas in its day. City and Cosmos: The Arts of Teotihuacan presents recent findings from Mexican national and international archaeological projects excavating at Teotihuacan’s three main pyramids—the Sun, Moon, and the Feathered Serpent—and major residential compounds. These discoveries have fundamentally changed our understanding of the city’s history.
