Don’t miss the final two days for In High Style: The Photography of Neal Barr, an exciting exhibition celebrating fashion and celebrity photographer Neal Barr’s extraordinary life and career, spanning more than five decades–from his early beginnings in Ventura to his fashion career in New York City and back again to Ventura. Barr has photographed some of the world’s most famous faces, including pitcher Sandy Koufax, actors Warren Beatty and Sophia Loren, designer Halston and boxer Cassius Clay for top publications, such as Harper’s Bazaar, Ladies’ Home Journal and Sports Illustrated.

ETHICS IN HEALTHCARE: Advanced Care Planning

A date night for people who care about each other.
Join us 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., April 18 at the Museum’s Smith Pavilion, 100 E. Main Street, Ventura, for the Ethics in Healthcare series designed to educate and engage our community about controversial and contemporary subjects that occur at the intersection of medicine, politics and society. Moderated by James Hornstein, M.D., CMHS Chair of the Bioethics Committee.

Join artist Ryan Carr from 6 to 8 p.m., April 17, for our next figure drawing group session at McGregor’s Craft Beer & Wine, 144 W. Los Angeles Ave. #105, Moorpark. This popular event meets twice-monthly to draw live, clothed models.
The group alternates between meeting at the Museum and meeting at local breweries. Bring your drawing pads, charcoal, pencils, pastels, whatever your favorite medium! No liquid mediums, please. All skill levels welcome. Admission is free.

First Annual Student Art Show to be held at
Museum of Ventura County
|
There will be a VIP reception for visual arts supporters from 5 to 6:30 p.m., followed by a $25 ticketed fundraising event, 6:30 to 8 p.m., April 19, where student awards will be presented at 7 p.m. All proceeds from this event will go to support VUSD’s art programs.
Enjoy a free family day at the museum, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., April 21. In addition to viewing artwork, student musicians will be performing throughout the day and local food trucks will be on site. The artwork will remain on display through May 6.

Patterns on the Land is a pop-up exhibit showcasing faithful reproductions of rare maps from the Museum Research Library collection. View these 2D topographical depictions as they bring our local history to life and learn of their many different applications. This rare and antique map collection is not to be missed!
