Recorded interviews in the Research Library’s oral history collection give us a glimpse into the lives of Cerisa House Wesley and Annie Smith, two remarkable women who were members of the earliest African American families to settle in Ventura. Listen to their extraordinary recounting of life during the flood of 1909, the pandemic of 1918, and a devastating fire that claimed the lives of a younger sister and infant brother.
MUSEUM QUIZLET
Crawlers: From the Fields to Outer Space
The invention of the tractor revolutionized the way Americans farmed. The evolution from animalpower to mechanically powered farming was instrumental in our country’s farmland expansion at the turn of the last century, shaping America as we know it today.
In this quizlet we explore the American tractor from its earlybeginnings to its modern-day usage.
Please include your name and contact information at the end of the quiz and we’ll place your name in a weekly drawing for a $50 gift certificate to a local Ventura County establishment of your choice. Good luck!
