VENTURA — The Museum of Ventura County presents the First Annual Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration on Saturday, October 3rd from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Sponsored by Southern California Gas Company (SoCalGas), the event will take place at the Museum with light refreshments, live performances by the Youth Mariachi Band from Inlakech Cultural Center, and booths staffed by Ventura Unified School District and the Girl Scouts. Rounding out the celebratory event will be a variety of cultural family-friendly activities.

The Museum’s celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month continues with a variety of cultural exhibits that will be on display for an extended period. These include Crossing Borders, an exhibition highlighting a selection of works by artists who immigrated or whose parents immigrated to the United States, often as refugees in search of a safe haven, bringing with them their ideas and talents. Another exhibit that opened this past July and runs through October 31st is Huelga! Photographs from the Frontline, a photography exhibit that focuses on the 1970s labor strikes and is featured alongside memorabilia from the collection of longtime local activist and civic leader, Jorge Corralejo. Mr. Corralajo will be presenting a virtual Gallery Talk on Tuesday, September 28th, 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. via Zoom. Register free at www.VenturaMuseum.org.
