Dear Friends,

We hope you have been enjoying your summer thus far. We would like to share some exciting news with you:

Please note MCASB offices will reopen on September 3, 2024.

Sangre de Nopal/Blood of the Nopal: Tanya Aguiñiga and Porfirio Gutiérrez en conversación/In Conversation is currently on view at the Fowler Museum at UCLA, and is organized by the Museum of Contemporary Art Santa Barbara (MCASB) with the Fowler.

Sangre de Nopal/Blood of the Nopal: Traditional Ecological Knowledge and Contemporary Art the companion exhibition opens at MCASB on Sunday, October 6, 2024.

Both exhibitions are part of PST ART: Art & Science Collide, and offer an expanded understanding of Indigenous cultivation of cochineal, an insect-derived red dye developed by the Zapotec peoples around 500 BC, and centers ancestral knowledge, technical experimentation, and brings a special focus to immigration and labor justice.

Stay safe and hydrated from this warm summer weather, and we look forward to seeing you in early October.

Until then,
The MCASB Team

Deadline Extension: Annual Call For Entries MCASB Satellite at Riviera Beach House
September 6, 2024!

Bringing Back the Annual Call For Entries! MCASB Satellite at Riviera Beach House – Open to all artists from Los Angeles to the San Francisco Bay Area!

Museum of Contemporary Art Santa Barbara (MCASB) announces the re-imagination of the storied Call For Entries exhibition program established by the Contemporary Arts Forum, the precursor to the museum. This call will program the MCASB Satellite at Riviera Beach House with two exhibitions over the course of one year.

MCASB Satellite at Riviera Beach House, now a partnership between MCASB and the Riviera Beach House, is a two story gallery exhibition space that is free and open to the public daily from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm. Occupying the lower and upper lobbies of the hotel located in the heart of Santa Barbara’s Funk Zone Arts District, the venue presents a dynamic exhibition program that for the first time will be open exclusively to all artists between the great Los Angeles area and the San Francisco Bay area.

We look forward to seeing you at the museum!

¡Esperamos verlo pronto en el museo!
