Meadowlark Service League Annual Giving to award grants

VENTURA COUNTY — Meadowlark Service League Annual Giving will award grants to 24 local Ventura County charities and 25 college scholarships this June.  The annual celebration luncheon was cancelled due to Covid-19, but the grants will still be awarded to the recipient charities and students.  Meadowlarks raised $180,000 to support our community this year.  This small group of less than 20 active members, plus it’s generous supporting members, planned and executed 3 major fundraisers for the 2019/2020 Giving.  A full list of the grant recipients is provided below.

Meadowlarks hosts three major fundraisers a year.  The “Homes for the Holidays” Home Tour and Boutique, “A Taste of Camarillo” Festival and Gala and the Charity Luncheon and Tennis/Pickleball Tournament.  This local group of women has worked in our community for more that 45 years.  They are seeking new members at this time.  Contact Jenna at 805 377-3662 for more information on membership.  We need the communities support.

Meadowlarks contributes to key local charities that make  a difference in our community.  Susan Speer, Nutritionist at Ventura County Cancer Center, stated that, “Nutritional care of the cancer patient is critical to recovery and survival, and thanks to the support of the Meadowlark Service League this kind of quality whole person care, often found only in big city centers, is available to cancer patients right here in our own community.  Last year alone, the SJR Nutrition Counseling Program provided nutrition care services to over 1000 cancer patients and caregivers.”   Roberto Martinez, CEO/President Boy and Girls Club of Camarillo, supported Meadowlarks long-term contributions stating, “The hard work of the Meadowlarks have allowed our organization to be mission focused, ensuring that we can serve those youth who need us most, thanks to their tireless efforts, our programs can be affordable and inclusive to all in our community. Their work has really impacted the kids we serve, and over the past several decades, they have touched so many lives in Camarillo.”  Sylvia Taylor-Stein, Executive Director, Long-Term Care Services of Ventura County Ombudsman Program, stated that “The Ombudsman Program is deeply grateful for the support Meadowlark has given us over the years. The grant we received has enabled us to advocate for our most vulnerable – those in long-term care – even during these most challenging times.”  All the charities Meadowlark Service League supports provide critical services in the Ventura County community.   Without Meadowlark’s support these charities would be struggling even more.  Many of our charities have received our support for many years.  Meadowlarks is counted on in our community and we will try to be there for them.

The Giving Luncheon cancellation has deprived the non-profit community of a huge opportunity to network together and share their stories of success.  Meadowlarks is so thankful to be part of this community and the opportunity to make a difference.  Meadowlark Service League continues to fight to raise funds for our community in need.  2020/2021 presents new challenges.  Meadowlarks is working on new ways to help raise funds for our charities.  The current “A Taste of Camarillo” Online Fundraiser and a upcoming “A Taste of Camarillo” Virtual Auction are just two campaigns Meadowlarks is launching.  Look for more information on these campaigns.
