CAMARILLO — Studio Channel Islands Art Center (SCIART) invites the public to the Shelter art fundraiser, noon to 6 pm, May 7, in support of Ukrainian refugees. SCIART’s Members Gallery is currently showing Displacement and Resilience, a very special exhibition curated by artist Elana Kundell in response to the current war in Ukraine. This exhibition explores how artists are transforming trauma and the generational impacts of displacement through their creative process.
For a donation of $50 or more, attendees can pick out their favorite original work of art at the Shelter art fundraiser to bring home. In addition, there will be a special gift for visitors to the gallery who donate $20 or more. All proceeds from the event will go to support World Central Kitchen, Doctors Without Borders, and the International Rescue Committee. There will be live music, artist demos, raffles, and more. SCIART’s main gallery is currently showing E Pluirbus Unum, featuring the work of three artists responding to the differences and commonalities within our community. In addition, SCIART’s resident artists’ studios will be open to the public. Studio Channel Islands is located at 2222 E. Ventura Blvd., Camarillo. Admission is free and there is ample parking.
