May 6 — African Women Rising Hosts Goat Fest 2018: A Day of Family Fun in Montecito featuring Grammy-nominated Musical Guest Alphabet Rockers

SANTA BARBARA — Africa Women Rising will host Goat Fest 2018 to be held Sunday, May 6, 2018, from 2:00 – 5:00 PM in Montecito on the magical Oakleigh lawn.

Headlining the event will be Grammy-nominated Alphabet Rockers. This whole-family event lets attendees experience aspects of rural life in Northern Uganda — a day of insight, education, and fun!  Attendees can frolic with goats, picnic, enjoy local cuisine, shop and sing along.

Goat Fest 2018 Features:
  • An African Beading Workshop where attendees can create three handmade bracelets from Ugandan beads
  • Local culinary delights from The Honey B, Oat Bakery, The Welcome Coffee Cart, Papa’s Peppers and McConnell’s Fine Ice Creams
  •  An African Marketplace featuring handmade blankets, bracelets, bags, and necklaces from Uganda
  • Hand-crafted goat’s milk products by Chivas Skin Care

The event’s proceeds will benefit African Women Rising, a small non-profit with big impact. African Women Rising was started in 2006 in Santa Barbara and Uganda to empower women after war by providing technical skills and support for success via education, agriculture, and micro-finance training.
