SANTA BARBARA — UCSB Arts & Lectures presents Roots/Alt-rock Powerhouse, Amythyst Kiah on Thursday, May 5th at 8:00 p.m. at Campbell Hall.
With an unforgettable voice that’s both unfettered and exquisitely controlled, singer-songwriter Amythyst Kiah has been dubbed “one of Americana’s great up-and-coming secrets” by Rolling Stone. A member of Our Native Daughters (with Rhiannon Giddens, Leyla McCalla and Allison Russell), she penned their Grammy-nominated song “Black Myself,” which gracefully interlaces political commentary and personal revelation and took home Song of the Year at the Folk Alliance International Awards. Wary + Strange, Kiah’s latest solo effort, marks the glorious collision of the iconoclastic alt-rock that first sparked her musical passion and the roots music scene where she’s found breakout success in recent years.
