WESTLAKE VILLAGE — Founder of Safe Passage Youth Foundation Tim Hagel is the keynote speaker at the Southeast Ventura County YMCA’s National Day of Prayer Breakfast, Thursday, May 4 at California Lutheran University’s Gilbert Sports Center in Thousand Oaks.
“Tim’s roots are deep in the Conejo Valley and he’s been an inspiration to the community for years,” says Ronnie Stone, Southeast Ventura County YMCA President/CEO. Hagel is the former Police Chief Ventura County Sheriff’s Office and is on the board of many community non-profits.
Local officials and members of houses of worship will provide prayers including CLU University Pastor Scott Adams, Imam and Religious Director MuhammedMehtar of the Islamic Center Conejo Valley, Simi Valley Councilmember Elaine Litster, Pastor Chamie Delkeskamp of Ascension Lutheran Church, Reverend Dr. Gary Dickey and Cantor Kenny Ellis of Temple Beth Ami.
KCLU-FM’s Mary Olson will MC the event and CLU President Lori Variott will begin the morning with a welcome to guests. Local musicians will provide the entertainment. “The National Day of Prayer Breakfast is a once-a-year opportunity for all faiths to join as one to pray for our leaders, our community and peace around the world,” says Stone.
The prayer breakfast is one of the largest in Ventura County, typically attracting more than 150 attendees. It will be held from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Individual tickets are $25 and include a full breakfast. Tickets can be purchased at www.sevymca.org/dayofprayer.
