VENTURA COUNTY — The Workforce Development Board (WDB) of Ventura County will host a Virtual Resource Fair on Wednesday, May 19, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Participants will learn about local organizations offering workforce training and educational opportunities to enable job seekers to secure well-paying employment.
“We’ll have representatives from local community based organizations and partners from the local America’s Job Center of California, which sole purpose is to connect people with jobs and provide supportive services,” says WDB Executive Director Rebecca Evans.
The County’s Human Services Agency operates the America’s Job Center in Oxnard with oversight by the WDB of Ventura County. The facility contains dozens of computers and copiers for public use, equipment for job seekers with disabilities, special programs for veterans, career workshops, job listings, and child waiting room so parents can look for employment knowing that their children are being cared for. The center remains closed for in-person services due to COVID-19, but services remain available virtually by phone or online. Visit www.venturacountyajcc.org or call 805-288-8400.
“Many in the county don’t realize the amount of job search resources that are available to them,” says Evans. “The America’s Job Center is just one. By attending the virtual resource fair, participants will come away with the information they need to find a job that fits their level of experience or learn how they can train to acquire the skills that will result in a rewarding career.”
The Virtual Resource Fair is free and will be in both English and Spanish. To sign up, go to http://ow.ly/shb450EpYxj. If your organization or educational entity would like to participate, join us by going to http://ow.ly/ZDnk50EpYxi
