VENTURA — The community is invited to attend the third annual Pollinator Palooza event on Saturday, May 17, 2025, between 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Barranca Vista Park, 7050 Ralston Street. Free arts and crafts activities and educational programs will be available for participants of all ages to learn about the significance of pollinators.
“We’re excited to bring the community together once again for this fun, family-friendly celebration,” said Recreation Manager Rebecca Ellis. “With even more partners and activities this year, we’re highlighting the importance of pollinators and the many ways they help our environment thrive.”
Get ready to buzz with excitement as participants explore the fascinating world of pollinators through a wide range of engaging and informative activities, including:
Education & Giveaways
- Explore sustainable living with composting, recycling, worm bins and more from the City’s Environmental Sustainability Division.
- Get gardening tips, plant giveaways and class info from UC Master Gardeners.
- Learn about native seeds (California Native Plant Society), local insects (Ventura Land Trust), and the Monarch butterfly life cycle (U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service).
Activities
- Enjoy arts and crafts, chalk art, origami, and a Bee and Butterfly puppet show.
- Join the Pollinator Parade—dress as your favorite pollinator or plant!
- Visit the Insect Fun Zone and make insect antennas or mini bouquets.
- Paint bee boxes and see a live honeybee hive (Ventura Bee Rescue).
- Build pollinator drinking stations with Ventura Water.
- Take a garden tour at Cornucopia Community Garden.
- Community Bike Ride: Meet at Thille Park (9:15 a.m.), arrive at Barranca Vista Park by 10:00 a.m. Bike valet available.
This event is hosted by the City’s Parks and Recreation Department, with support from the Ventura Water Department, and Public Works’ Environmental Sustainability Division.
Community partners include BikeVentura, Channel Islands Chapter of the California Native Plant Society, Olivas Adobe Historical Interpreters, University of California Master Gardeners, Rincon-Vitova Insectaries Inc., U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Ventura Bee Rescue, and the Ventura Land Trust.

Celebra la primavera en el Pollinator Palooza el 17 de mayo
VENTURA – – La comunidad está invitada a asistir a la tercera edición del evento anual Pollinator Palooza, que se llevará a cabo el sábado 17 de mayo de 2025, de 10:00 a. m. a 1:00 p. m., en el Parque Barranca Vista, ubicado en el 7050 Ralston Street. Habrá actividades gratuitas de arte y manualidades, así como programas educativos para personas de todas las edades, con el objetivo de aprender sobre la importancia de los polinizadores.
“Nos emociona reunir nuevamente a la comunidad en esta celebración divertida y familiar,” expresó Rebecca Ellis, Gerente de Recreación. “Este año contamos con más aliados y actividades, lo que nos permite resaltar aún más la importancia de los polinizadores y cómo contribuyen al bienestar de nuestro medio ambiente.”
Prepárate para disfrutar mientras exploras el fascinante mundo de los polinizadores a través de una amplia variedad de actividades educativas y entretenidas, que incluyen:
Educación y obsequios
? Aprende sobre vida sostenible con temas como compostaje, reciclaje, lombricultura y más, con el equipo
de Sostenibilidad Ambiental de la Ciudad.
? Recibe consejos de jardinería, plantas gratis e información sobre clases con los Maestros Jardineros de la
Universidad de California.
? Conoce sobre semillas nativas (Sociedad de Plantas Nativas de California), insectos locales (Ventura Land
Trust) y el ciclo de vida de la mariposa monarca (Servicio de Pesca y Vida Silvestre de EE. UU.).
Actividades
? Disfruta de arte y manualidades, arte con tizas, origami y un show de marionetas de abejas y mariposas.
? Participa en el Desfile de Polinizadores — ¡ven disfrazado de tu polinizador o planta favorita!
? Visita la Zona Divertida de Insectos para crear antenas o ramos en miniatura.
? Pinta cajas para abejas y observa una colmena de abejas viva (con Ventura Bee Rescue).
? Construye estaciones de agua para polinizadores con Ventura Water.
? Realiza un recorrido guiado por el Jardín Comunitario Cornucopia.
Paseo comunitario en bicicleta
Encuentro en el Parque Thille a las 9:15 a. m., llegada al Parque Barranca Vista a las 10:00 a. m. Contaremos con servicio de valet para bicicletas.
Este evento es organizado por el Departamento de Parques y Recreación de la Ciudad, con el apoyo del Departamento de Agua de Ventura y la División de Sostenibilidad Ambiental de Obras Públicas.
