The Ventura County Climate Hub will present “Out with the Old, In with the New” on Thursday, May 11 in Ventura.
- WHAT: The Ventura County Climate Hub invites the public to hear leaders of two partner organizations in a program called ‘Out with the Old, In with the New’ referring to our local energy economy. Citizens for Responsible Oil and Gas (CFROG) will talk about their opposition to permits for new oil wells in Oxnard. The World Business Academy will present the latest know-how for transition away from fossil fuels toward clean energy that argues strongly against the proposed Puente Power Plant at Mandalay Beach.
- WHO: Ventura County Climate Hub is a grassroots, non-partisan local affiliate of 350.org with over 30 local partner organizations and hundreds of people engaged in the full spectrum of ways to reverse climate change. - WHY: Clean energy technology is here—the know-how and resources need to be mobilized to create a thriving economy with safe energy. The only thing missing is an informed and active public demanding an end to government policies that support the fossil fuel paradigm. There are currently opportunities in Ventura County to pull together on actions to oppose new drilling permits and a new gas-fired power plant at Mandalay Beach, and to raise up demand of electric ratepayers, residential and commercial, for development of renewable energy and distributed generation.
