Puppetpaloozasb presents The Muppets—and the remarkable performers who bring them to life—will enthrall audiences with an evening of story-telling, interviews, exclusive footage, musical puppetry madness and improvised mayhem! Joining us will be Matt Vogel (Kermit the Frog and Sgt. Floyd Pepper), Eric Jacobson (Miss Piggy and Fozzie Bear, Bill Barretta (Pepe the King Prawn and Rowlf the Dog (Muppets)), Peter Linz (Walter and Link Hogthrob). The evening’s interviews will be moderated by Debbie McClellan, Vice President of The Muppets Studio.

Puppetpaloozasb presents this fun show based on a popular Cuban and Puerto Rican children’s tale, a little roach learns many lessons on her journey to find true love! This enchanting story is a bilingual rock ‘n’ roll musical, presented simultaneously in English and Spanish, under the direction of Dr. Manuel Morán.

Huber Marionettes’ “Suspended Animation”

Puppetpaloozasb presents Phillip Huber, America’s premiere, Emmy award-winning marionettist who puts on a performance to wow the whole family with incredible, complex marionettes! Huber is an internationally recognized “artist with marionettes,” most widely known for his work in the 3-time Academy Award nominated film Being John Malkovich. His brilliant efforts have earned an Emmy, along with the highest puppetry honor, the UNIMA Citation of Excellence. He conjures up magic in this great-for-all-ages show!

Gaby Moreno

The Marjorie Luke Theatre and UCSB Arts & Lectures present this FREE family show as part of the Viva el Arte SB concert series. Born and raised in Guatemala, Los Angeles-based Gaby Moreno learned to speak English by immersing herself in the songs of jazz greats Ella Fitzgerald, Nina Simone, and Aretha Franklin. Named Best New Artist at the Latin Grammies in 2013, Gaby is co-composer of the theme song from TV comedy Parks and Recreation, and made the iconic recording of the classic song ‘Smile’, by Charlie Chaplin, for the Oscar-winning documentary The Cove. On her latest album, Ilusión, released in September 2016, Gaby looks back to her past and the spirit of the aspiring immigrant artist who made her way in a new country with just her guitar, her velvet voice, and a pocketful of songs she was eager to share.

An Evening With Frank Ostaseski

Life and death are a package deal. They cannot be pulled apart and we cannot truly live unless we are aware of death. The Five Invitations is an exhilarating meditation on the meaning of life and how maintaining an ever-present consciousness of death can bring us closer to our truest selves.
Frank Ostaseski is an internationally respected Buddhist teacher and visionary cofounder of the Zen Hospice Project, and founder of the Metta Institute. He has lectured at Harvard Medical-School, the Mayo Clinic, Wisdom.2.0 and teaches at spiritual centers around the globe. His ground breaking work has been highlighted on The Oprah Winfrey Show and honored by the Dalai Lama.
