March 22 — “Pay to Play” the new Social Media Reality? And How Can You “Play to Win?” – Changing the Rules of Marketing

OXNARD — Are your company’s marketing skills hitting the mark? The way companies promote brands affects their ability to navigate social media in 2017. This is the topic of the March 22 Public Relations Society of America Gold Coast Chapter meeting with guest speaker Mark Ryan, the ‘chief dude’ of the Mahalo Agency in Camarillo.

The meeting will begin at 8 a.m. with networking and a light breakfast, followed by the program presentation from 8:30-9:30 a.m. The event will be held at the California Lutheran University/Oxnard Campus-The Palms, 2201 Outlet Center Drive, Suite 600, Oxnard.

“I am a big believer in the power of branding and where IQ meets EQ,” says Ryan. “We don’t buy products or services. We don’t make decisions based on features and benefits. We make decisions based on emotion and stories.”

For more than seven years, Ryan has been sharing his brand of marketing as “chief dude” at the Mahalo Agency, which focuses on humanizing and socializing brands through the use of social media content and conversations. Ryan teaches people and companies how to create reaction by communicating brands in a memorable, engaging and personable way – attracting the right audiences and achieving performance results that count. Some of the brands they have worked with include Discovery Channel, Shark Tank, Nike, Solplicity, Samsung, Microsoft, Dell, and Ventura County Credit Union.

The PRSA meeting is open to the public. Advance reservations are required. Admission is $10 for students with ID, $20 for PRSA members and $30 for non-members. To register, visit www.prsagoldcoast.org.
