Local PODS to Store Free Books for 10th Annual Storyfest on Oct. 8

pods-moving-and-storageVENTURA — Local PODS Moving and Storage leader will once again serve as the storage provider to the 10th Annual StoryFest, a free event that promotes early literacy amongst children and their families while preparing them for school. On Saturday, Oct. 8, from 9 a.m.-2p.m., the Ventura Unified School District Education Service Center will transform into a pop-up book fair that will celebrate the joy of reading.

The donation of the PODS container will allow the Ventura Education Partnership and the Ventura Neighborhood for Learning to store more than 1,800 free books that will be distributed to children who have their passports stamped.

“PODS is happy to play a part in helping to store the free books for the 3,000 children that will attend StoryFest,” expresses Steve Yapp, local PODS franchise owner. “We love to help out the local community especially an event like Storyfest that helps to prepare younger children for school.”

The event will give out free books in the six storytelling tents that will have books read in English, Spanish and American Sign Language. Families and their children can also participate in other various activities such as signing up for library cards, book giveaways, musical activities, and a truckfest that will allow children the opportunity to get up close and touch trucks.

An outreach event for Ventura Neighborhood for Learning that began 9 years ago, StoryFest has continued to grow significantly and helped more and more children discover their love of reading.

“We can’t thank PODS enough for their kindness and generosity,” said Cathy Puccetti of First 5 Ventura Neighborhood for Learning. “The donation of the PODS containers has been such a blessing that has helped us store and distribute more free books this year.”
