Local PODS Puts Oxnard Union High Schools Football Training Camp Fundraising in Scoring Position

PODSOXNARD — Local PODS moving and storage may make a winning season for Oxnard Union High School’s football teams by donating containers and services for the football boosters’ yearly fundraiser at this summer’s Dallas Cowboys Training Camp in Oxnard.

Two large PODS containers will be placed at the training camp and store the dry food items, soft drinks and water for sale to benefit the high school football programs, as well as items necessary to maintain the camp operations. Proceeds from the camp fundraiser will help pay for football equipment, spirit apparel, snack bar equipment, and other items.

“Without the help of PODS, the camp volunteer staff would have to shuttle back and forth between the training camp and the Oxnard High School Campus,” said Art Chaparro, OHS Football Booster Advisor. “PODS moving and storage allows us the best way to provide snacks and refreshments to the fans attending the training camp.”

This event is the OHS Boosters largest fundraising effort each year. In 2015, the boosters, who include volunteer parents, families and business partners, grossed more than $20,000 and generated a profit of $16,000.

“I’m proud that PODS is helping in this unique way to give back to our local community,” said Steve Yapp, owner of local PODS Moving and Storage. “We want the District’s football teams to have a great season so by donating the PODS containers to help them store their fundraising supplies, it gives them time to focus on raising enough money for supplies and items they need to have the best season to date.”

PODS has donated containers for OUHSD and the professional football training camp in Oxnard for four years.
