VENTURA COUNTY — Local PODS moving and storage is helping the American Red Cross of Ventura County prepare for the upcoming El Nino storm by donating the use of its PODS containers. The American Red Cross of Ventura County is prepared for any possible storm scenario, such as flash floods, flooding or mudslides due to hefty weather conditions and with the help of PODS, it will help make the national organization’s job much easier.
PODS containers will be placed in vulnerable communities within Ventura County that may not be easily reached in case disaster strikes this winter. Red Cross supplies such as cots, water, blankets, first aid kits, comfort kits and toys for children will be stored in the donated PODS containers where disaster responders will be able to provide relief and comfort for those who need it.
“PODS is always willing to help our community, especially if this will potentially save someone’s life in the midst of a natural disaster,” said Steve Yapp, owner of local PODS Moving and Storage. “It’s an honor to assist a national organization that saves lives every day for any unpredictable situation. If we can help alleviate any human suffering and help Red Cross this winter, then of course local PODS Moving and Storage is delighted to step in.”
Red Cross relies on the generosity of the community to help provide relief in times of disaster. That includes financial support or donations of time in the form of volunteering. Over 90 percent of the American Red Cross’ workforce is led by volunteers who are passionate on serving the Red Cross mission.
“We can’t thank the kindness of Local PODS moving and storage enough,” says Jessica Piffero, Regional Director of Communications of American Red Cross. “Our organization is possible due to the generosity of people and businesses such as PODS, who donate their time and goods to us in time of need. We want to thank PODS again for providing their containers to utilize as extra storage space. It will greatly help disaster responders where intense or life threatening weather conditions might interfere.”
