New office accepts most insurances and provides services for all ages
THOUSAND OAKS — With the pandemic causing numerous mental health challenges, school starting again and life in general bringing plenty of stress, the need for psychological services continues to grow. And for many, finding quality services covered by insurance is no easy task. That’s why Lifespan: A Center for Family Psychological Services recently opened its doors with a goal of providing affordable mental health services — including psychological testing, therapy and neurofeedback — to meet a wide variety of community needs.
“We started Lifespan because we want to take care of our community,” said co-founder Beatrix Wagner, Psy.D. “By accepting insurance and offering several services under one roof, we make it affordable, quick and convenient for people to get access to the mental health support they need.”
Psychological testing at Lifespan helps to identify underlying factors in numerous mental health concerns and facilitate accurate diagnoses. Testing services provide the information needed to assess general intellectual functioning, attention and concentration, memory and learning, academic abilities, language abilities, processing speed, personality, developmental functioning, behavioral and emotional characteristics, and more.
Lifespan also offers therapy both in person and via telehealth. The process begins with an intake appointment, where one of the company’s licensed psychologists helps match each individual with the therapist best suited to their unique needs and personality. From there, the patient and therapist set goals together and work at a pace that is comfortable for the patient.
In addition to traditional therapy, Lifespan offers neurofeedback, which uses noninvasive EEG technology to help train the brain. The patient simply relaxes and watches their favorite show on Netflix or YouTube, while the technology provides feedback to brain that encourages it to develop healthier activity patterns.
Through these services, Lifespan provides diagnosis and treatment for individuals of all ages, addressing a wide variety of mental health concerns — including ADHD, anxiety, autism, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, personality disorders and beyond.
“Our goal at Lifespan is to offer an environment that feels safe and welcoming to each person that walks through our doors,” said co-founder Edmon Artinyan, Psy.D. “Getting mental health support can be intimidating, and we want to remove as many barriers as possible to help our community get the care they need.”
Lifespan currently accepts most major insurances — such as Anthem, BlueCross Blue Shield, Blue Shield MHSA, Cigna, Aetna and Optum — and is in the process of getting paneled with additional insurances. For those who prefer to pay out of pocket, the company also offers several private payment options.
The company is located at 2801 Townsgate Rd., Suite 133, in Thousand Oaks. Those interested in making an appointment should call 805-852-5039 or visit www.lifespanfps.com
