Just Being Healthy in Today’s Mobile World

Just Being Healthy (JBH) will participate in the 5th annual Global Wellness Day, an international day to celebrate wellness and healthy living, by working to improve a person’s total body wellness caused by the stressors of life, and in many cases the use of cellular devices.

Local wellness expert, Bernita Brazier, licensed massage therapist and owner of JBH, has taken the idea of total body wellness and incorporated it into her practice to help those who suffer from the effects of poor posture caused by today’s mobile world.

“How many of us are experiencing chronic neck pain? How about numbness or tingling in the fingertips? It could be serious but it could be what has been labeled as ‘poor posture’ and what I call ‘electronitis device,’” explained Brazier. “Heavy backpacks help with back pain and neck strain but head down glued to the screen-many do not notice the damage that is created. Chiropractors and Medical Doctors always advocate good posture because it preserves the bone structure.”

A recent study by Surgical Technology International’s 25th edition found that looking down at a mobile device can actually put up to 60 pounds of pressure on the neck causing neck and spine issues.

Brazier’s passion for helping people fix their postures while reaching their wellness and health goals goes beyond the typical approach by using holistic methods with therapeutic massage and nutrition counseling.

“When evaluating posture and the effect on the body with new clients or returning clients we make sure we offer practical tips because what is practical for one person is not practical for another,” said Brazier.

Massage therapy is quickly becoming one of the best alternative and cooperative forms of medicines. Massage therapy has been clinically proven to alleviate the symptoms of stress that negatively impact our bodies and make us age faster. JBH specializes in massage techniques that alleviate pain and stress to bring the body to a healthier state. JBH also has personal nutritional counseling to improve energy levels, balance diets and promote better eating habits.

Brazier tells clients, “Wellness is moving without pain and living without guilt or regrets. Not having to take a pill to digest food or minimize pain; feeling good about your body and the response you receive from it.” Nutrition, combined with proper alignment, rest, and exercise can greatly improve one’s mental outlook, help decrease stress and hormonal changes to stress, as well as provide positive and addictive endorphins for healthy living.
