Don’t miss Kids’ Art Fest on Sunday, June 2! This free, outdoor event offers playful art activities for children of all ages, plus face painting, giant bubble making, and more. Best of all, admission is free for everyone. Santa Paula Animal Rescue Center and a few furry friends will join the fun this year, helping inspire our art projects!

Kids’ Art Fest 2024 is sponsored by Calavo, Brianne McGrath, Santa Paula Latino Town Hall, Rotary Club of Santa Paula, and Palazzio Events.

In conjunction with their current exhibition, “From Field to Frame: The PAC6 Show How It’s Done,” PAC6 Painters Nita Harper, Laura Wambsgans, and Sharon Weaver will be setting up their easels to paint inside the Museum, looking to each other’s work for inspiration! Visitors can walk freely between the three artists to chat and ask questions. Reservations are not required.

Lecture: Hiroko Yoshimoto and “A Brief History of the Origins of Chinese Characters”

Saturday, June 22, 2024 • 12 PM to 1:15 PM

Free for everyone

Ventura artist and retired Ventura College studio art professor Hiroko Yoshimoto will give a free lecture on the history of Chinese characters from the Han period and how they derived from pictographs. The lecture will be held inside SPAM’s Cole Creativity Center. Reservations are not required for the lecture, but seating will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

The free lecture will be followed by a unique art workshop led by Hiroko from 1:30 PM to 4 PM, wherein students can experiment with traditional Sumi brushes and India ink to explore calligraphy. All skill levels are welcome. The cost of the workshop is $50 per person, and space is extremely limited. Please use the link below to register.

Experience the music of Fillmore indie folk band “Gathering” inside the Santa Paula Art Museum! Longtime friends and band members Bill Bartels, Eric Brown, Gregg Cassity, and Teddi Cassity will perform an eclectic mix of original songs and creative covers. Tickets can be purchased at the door only.

Kids’ Art Camps Start in June

Available in June, July, and August for ages 6 to 9 and ages 10 to 14

Let your kids exercise their creativity this summer during half-day camps inside SPAM’s Cole Creativity Center. Kids can explore ceramics, crafts, painting, drawing, sculpture, and more. All camps are $160 per week and all supplies are provided.
