CARPINTERIA — Former world champion surfer Shaun Tomson will share his personal experiences coping with loss and will discuss the importance of hope and purpose during the grief process June 5th at “The Light Shines Ahead” luncheon, hosted by Compassionate Care of Carpinteria (CCC), an initiative of Hospice of Santa Barbara.
Since losing his son Mathew in 2006 in a tragic accident, Tomson built a new life and now talks across the world to corporations, universities and schools about the influence of positive purpose on success in life and business based on his own experiences of overcoming the challenges of grief, despair and lack of hope.
Tickets are now available for the luncheon, which will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 5, at the Rincon Beach Club, 3805 Santa Claus Lane in Carpinteria. The event will benefit CCC, which offers bereavement services, patient care management services, educational workshops and more, free of charge, throughout Carpinteria. All CCC services are offered in both English and Spanish. CCC’s offices are located at the Carpinteria Children’s Project.
