OXNARD – Channel Islands Maritime Museum presents “DAMN THE PETTICOATS! Female Mariners in the Days of Sail” with CIMM Docents and Historians Martina Melero and Jim Kosinski. Queens commanded fleets, female tars climbed the foremast, mistresses were in disguise, pirate queens took charge and whaling wives longed for home. Learn why these women chose to risk their lives in a man’s domain and cast their fates to the wind.
Speaker Series is a lecture series held every third Wednesday at the Channel Islands Maritime Museum. Refreshments are served at 6:30 pm and the lecture begins at 7:00 pm. Entry is free with membership, $7 for non-members, $5 for seniors.
