Organized by the Museum of Contemporary Art Santa Barbara (MCASB) and the Fowler Museum at UCLA, and part of PST ART: Art & Science Collide, this exhibition offers an expanded understanding of Indigenous cultivation of cochineal, an insect-derived red dye developed by the Zapotec peoples around 500 BC, and centers ancestral knowledge, technical experimentation, and brings a special focus to immigration and labor justice.

Sangre de Nopal/Blood of the Nopal will be on view July 21, 2024, through January 12, 2025.
