SANTA BARBARAThe Music Academy of the West, 2024 Summer Music Festival, which kicked off June 12 and runs through August 3 at the Music Academy’s idyllic campus — and throughout the stunning setting of the American Riviera in Santa Barbara, California — features nearly 130 live events including special performances by Joshua Bell, Lawrence Brownlee, Sasha Cooke, Jeremy Denk, Steven Isserlis, Leila Josefowicz, Richard O’Neill, as well as Bizet’s Carmen and a stunning Teaching Artists Showcase.

SUMMER FESTIVAL WEEK 4 DAILY SCHEDULE

 

  • July 3, 7:30 PM, Hahn Hall: Mosher Guest Artist Steven Isserlis Cellist extraordinaire Steven Isserlis presents a recital alongside pianist Connie Shih.
  • July 5: The Fauré Project: SOLD OUT The Academy’s unwavering commitment to nurturing and educating our exceptional fellows offers unique opportunities to study and perform. During week 4, Academy fellow violinist Anthony Chan has this opportunity when he joins master musicians on stage. The Project features Mosher Guest Artists Joshua Bell and Steven Isserlis joined by solo piano teaching artist Jeremy Denk, viola teaching artist and Takács Quartet member Richard O’Neill, and Chan as they perform three chamber works by Gabriel Fauré in honor of the 100-year anniversary of the composer’s death.
  • July 6: Academy Chamber Orchestra: SOLD OUT Xian Zhang, Music Director of the New Jersey Symphony, makes her Music Academy debut conducting Dorothy Chang’s Northern Star, Kodály’s Dances of Galánta, and Dvo?ák’s “New World Symphony.”
  • Masterclasses Held Daily (July 1-6): Over 70 masterclassesheld throughout the eight-week Festival are open to the public, offering a rare look at classical musical instruction.

Tickets for the 2024 Summer Music Festival are on sale online at musicacademy.org, by phone at 805-969-8787, and at the Music Academy Carsey Ticket Office, open Monday-Friday, 10 am to 5 pm.

The Music Academy is committed to ensuring low-to-moderate income households in Santa Barbara County have access to the magic of music through $10 Community Access Tickets, subject to availability. Plus, young people ages 7-17 can receive a ticket free of charge when accompanied by a ticketed adult. The Community Access Ticket program is made possible in the loving memory of Linda Sawyer Frankel.
