July 13 — Pilot and Photographer Bill Dewey to Share His Point of View on California Landscape

SANTA PAULA — On Thursday, July 13, Santa Barbara pilot and photographer Bill Dewey will give a talk on the art of aerial photography at the Santa Paula Art Museum. The talk begins at 3:00 p.m. Dewey’s solo exhibition, “Pilot’s Discretion: Aerial Photos by Bill Dewey,” features extraordinary bird’s-eye views of the California landscape captured from the cockpit of the artist’s Cessna 172. Admission to the talk is $4.00 for adults, $3.00 for seniors, and free for students and museum members.

Bill Dewey has been photographing the California landscape since the early 1970s. He has had a photography studio in Santa Barbara for over 30 years and bases his aerial photography out of Santa Barbara airport. During his talk, Dewey will share his unique perspectives on flying, photography, and his favorite locales, ranging from the Sierras to the Santa Clara River Valley. “Pilot’s Discretion” is on view at the Santa Paula Art Museum through October 15.
