Jensen Design & Survey Engineering Los Angeles Rams Facilities Under Extreme Deadlines

JDSTHOUSAND OAKS — Jensen Design & Survey (JDS) announced that the engineering firm is completing the planning, survey, engineering and permitting for new temporary athletic facilities for the Los Angeles Rams football team, which is returning to Southern California and holding its practices at California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks.

The facilities will include two full-size practice fields, two buildings containing locker rooms, training facilities, video, media and conference rooms, as well as improvements to nearby streets, water lines and parking. The deadlines for completion were extremely aggressive to meet the team training schedule: Initial work began in February, and construction is expected to be completed by late August, just in time for the kickoff of the 2016 NFL season.

“As Cal Lutheran’s longtime on-call engineer and master planning firm, I’m proud that Jensen Design and Survey could help with permitting, surveying, engineering and all the other projects necessary to build a major NFL football training facility on campus,” explained Don Jensen, founder and CEO of JDS. “The CLU campus was an attractive location for the temporary Rams training facility, and we are delighted to have been able to make this happen.”

Jensen had to coordinate with several regulatory agencies, utility companies, engineers, architects, designers and contractors to ensure the facilities will be ready by August. Key planners at Jensen included Rob Talmadge and Kevin Waldron, who worked on preliminary grading and site planning, permitting and coordination with the Rams’ architect, and engineers Susanne Cooper, Jim McCoskey, and Dathan Neal, who completed engineering design and final grading, and construction documents for street, water and sewer improvements.
