VENTURA — Ventura County Treasurer-Tax Collector Steven Hintz has announced via email to his Treasurer-Tax Collector staff the following:
I will not run for re-election as Ventura County’s Treasurer-Tax Collector. I intend to serve out the balance of my current term of office, completing 51 years of public service. The trip from being a Lieutenant in the Navy Judge Advocate General’s Corps, to a deputy district attorney for Ventura County, to a judge of the Municipal Court and later the Superior Court, and finally to this position, has been a richly rewarding professional life.
I have served in this position since January 2011. All the projects begun during my terms of office have been successfully completed, save only the PTACS unified property tax system that will be completed this year. I believe the office’s service to the citizens of Ventura County has improved every year, thanks entirely to the excellent work done by a superlative staff to whom I am very, very grateful.
I will support the election of Assistant Treasurer-Tax Collector Sue Horgan to be the next Treasurer-Tax Collector, to the greatest allowable extent.
I cannot say with certainty what will be my next great adventure, except that I look forward to pursuing it with my wife Catherine, whose unwavering support since 1982 has enabled me to pursue our past adventures.
It has been wonderful to work with you. Regards, Steven Hintz
