SAN LUIS OBISPO — The Foundation at Hearst Castle and The Monday Club of San Luis Obispo are teaming up for two unique fashion shows on Oct. 4, 2025 that blends history, style, and preservation. The partnership is rooted in a shared legacy: both landmarks were designed by trailblazing architect Julia Morgan, California’s first licensed female architect.
Hosted at The Monday Club, the runway will showcase garments from the Hearst Castle Living History Collection alongside rare pieces from private collections—bringing the past to life with dramatic style. Emmy Award-winning journalist Jane Wells and community leader Robin Smith will emcee the events, guiding guests through a celebration that’s as glamorous as it is meaningful.
“This event beautifully demonstrates how community, history, and philanthropy can come together to create lasting impact,” said Doug Jenzen, Executive Director of the Foundation at Hearst Castle. “Funds raised will help conserve two rare 17th-century Peruvian tapestries and keep Hearst Castle’s treasures ready to inspire future generations.”
Dawn Turner, President of The Monday Club Board of Directors, added: “Partnering with the Foundation is a natural fit. Julia Morgan’s vision continues to unite our organizations, and this event allows us to celebrate her legacy while supporting the preservation of history.”
Beyond conservation, the Foundation at Hearst Castle is committed to education—raising funds to provide free field trips for students at Title 1 schools across the Central Coast and Central Valley, including San Luis Obispo, Monterey, Kern, Kings, Fresno, and San Benito counties, with hope to expand into Santa Barbara County. These programs allow thousands of students each year to experience the wonder of Hearst Castle and San Simeon State Park, opening doors to history, art, and environmental education that many would otherwise never have the opportunity to explore.
Guests at the Fashion Show can expect fine wine, and plenty of opportunities to support conservation and education—all in one of San Luis Obispo’s most iconic architectural spaces. Tickets and sponsorships are available now at both the Monday Club’s and the Foundation’s website – https://themondayclubslo.org/ and foundationathearstcastle.com/events
