Gold Coast Health Plan Celebrates 10 Years of Serving Ventura County’s Medi-Cal Members

Medi-Cal plan reaches significant milestone in providing safety net services for Ventura County’s most vulnerable populations

CAMARILLO — Gold Coast Health Plan (GCHP), Ventura County’s Medi-Cal plan, is celebrating 10 years of providing health care services to Medi-Cal beneficiaries.

On July 1, 2011, GCHP began operations as the sixth County Organized Health System in California, bringing managed care to about 100,000 Medi-Cal beneficiaries in Ventura County. In 10 years, GCHP’s membership more than doubled to about 220,000 members and as it grew, the amount of staff did as well, from about 25 to nearly 200.

“These past 10 years have given us plenty of reasons to celebrate,” said Margaret Tatar, GCHP’s chief executive officer. “We have a team of employees and a network of providers that are dedicated to serving as a safety net for the most vulnerable members of our community. I am grateful for their partnership in fulfilling our mission and for the steadfast support of our governing board, the Ventura County Medi-Cal Managed Care Commission. We are looking forward to another 10 years of growth as the Medi-Cal program continues to evolve and expand services to more populations!”

GCHP kicked-off its anniversary on June 30 with a drive-thru celebration for staff at its corporate office in Camarillo. An in-person event is planned for later this year.
