VENTURA — High school students from Ventura and Santa Barbara County will be attending Future Leaders of America’s week long annual “Youth Leadership Conferenc starting Monday, Aug. 6 at the University of California Santa Barbara, the organization reported in a media release.
Peer facilitators will be leading students in interactive activities and workshops throughout the week. The focus is to provide students with the skills and tools to become an effective leader and realize they are already leaders in their own ways. As well as provide them with knowledge on how they can successfully achieve the goals they set on their path to higher education. They’ll also be involved in a variety of cultural activities from dance, art, and even acting. Students get the opportunity to learn about public speaking, parliamentary procedures, interactive method, and many others which they are able to practice throughout the week in the comfort of being supported by their fellow peers. Our staff & alumni have been preparing rigorously with confidence that this year’s participants will take as much out of this experience as others have in the past.
Over the 29 years in operation as a non-profit organization, Future Leaders of America has continued to provide leadership training, educational experiences, and promote the personal development of youth and families, for the purpose of fostering a greater awareness and participation in responsible leadership in a global and democratic society. As our vision continues to grow in the community, we can only imagine the positive impact that the next generation will make.
