Hribar’s practice is focused on appeals and civil litigation; Lopez specializes in tax law, business law, estate planning and administration and related litigation.

“John and Lane epitomize the diverse talent FCOP brings to client service in Ventura County and throughout California. In addition to being tremendous lawyers, they are both greatly admired for their unique achievements,” said Michael Velthoen, FCOP managing partner. “Both are deeply dedicated to providing exemplary service to their clients. We welcome them to the firm’s partnership.”

An attorney with FCOP since 2010, Hribar is a talented lawyer with a passion for helping clients navigate the highly technical and complex legal issues that arise in appeals and civil litigation. Admitted to the State Bar of California in 2003, he served as a law clerk to Federal District Court Judge Dale S. Fischer in Los Angeles, and as an associate attorney at O’Melveny & Myers in Los Angeles, where he focused on complex civil litigation and white-collar criminal defense. A member of the Ventura County Bar Association and the Jerome H. Berenson American Inn of Court, Hribar earned his law degree from the University of California, Los Angeles, where he graduated near the top of his class and received the Judge Barry Russell Award from the Federal Bar Association. Prior to pursuing a career in law, Hribar worked as a mechanical design engineer for a large aerospace company and holds both a Master of Science and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford University.

A driven advocate for his clients, Lopez provides counsel in the areas of tax, business, real property, employment and trusts and estates law. A member of FCOP since 2014, he is admitted to practice before all state courts in California, as well as the U.S. District Court for the Southern, Central, Eastern and Northern Districts of California, and represents taxpayers under audit and before the United States Tax Court. Lopez holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Duke University, where he also minored in Japanese. Lopez obtained his law degree and a Master of Laws in Taxation from Loyola Law School, where, among other activities, he served as Secretary of the Tax Law Society and contributed to a published law review article regarding the impact of federal tax laws on persons with disabilities. Lopez is a native of Ventura County and currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Ventura County Bar Association.
