OXNARD — El Concilio Family Services is hosting their third mobile vaccination pop up clinic as a collaborative effort between The Oxnard Performing Arts Center, Boys & Girls Club of Greater Oxnard and Port Hueneme and the Ventura County Public Health Department.
In response to the pandemic and the low vaccination rates amongst teens, El Concilio Family Services Breakthrough Youth for Success Program launched a new initiative called the Youth Leadership Ambassador Program-VaxNation Project in October 2021.
The purpose of the VaxNation Project is to increase the number of youths vaccinated against covid-19. Young representatives from the Youth Leadership Ambassador Program have been promoting the VaxNation Project by spreading awareness and educating their peers through various medium outlets, including one-on-one outreach, social media, peer presentations, and community canvassing.
” The overall goal is to encourage youth to get vaccinated at a Teen Vax Clinic pop up, where they will be eligible to win prizes, engage with other peers from their community, enjoy live music, delicious food, and obtain information from local youth-focused resources,” said Yvonne Gutierrez, Executive Director of El Concilio Family Services. “The youth we work with face barriers to economic, social, and health services, and our Teen Vax Clinic is one way we are addressing these inequities.”
The 3rd Vax-Nation Project Teen Clinic will be held on Tuesday, February 22nd, 2022, from 1:30 pm to 5:30 pm. The location is set at the Oxnard Performing Arts Center, 800 Hobson Way, Oxnard CA 93030. No appointment is necessary. Vaccines will be available for ages 12+ and above. The vaccination clinic will offer, Pfizer, Moderna, Janssen vaccinations. In addition, Flu shoots will be available for adults.
