OXNARD — Did you know that when “Art Comes Alive,” life is so much more interesting? Join the Channel Islands Maritime Museum on Saturday, February 16 and Sunday, February 17, 12-4PM as friends of the museum dress up in costume and activate the spirit of various paintings, ship models, and time periods featured in the pieces on display in the galleries. The characters, brought to life, will share stories and facts about the pieces they represent, creating an exciting experience unlike any other in the hallways and galleries of the Museum.
The event is family friendly and guests are encouraged to come in maritime themed costumes, or as a favorite maritime character or artist! Admission to the museum is $10 for non-members, and $7 for members/Seniors/military and children age 12 and under, $20 for a family of four (each additional child is $5).
The Channel Islands Maritime Museum is open M/Th-Sat 10-4pm, Sun 12-4pm, and Tues/Wed for group tours and private member events (please call ahead to make a reservation), closed Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Day. Located in Oxnard’s Channel Islands Harbor at 3900 Bluefin Circle. Explore galleries full of rare and beautiful maritime paintings dating back to the 1600s, more than sixty world-class models of historic ships, rotating thematic fine arts exhibitions, and interactive exhibits that encourage visitors to expand their horizons about everything maritime.
