Feb. 14 — Santa Barbara Go Red for Women Luncheon in support of women’s heart health

SANTA BARBARA — The American Heart Association’s Santa Barbara County Go Red for Women Luncheon will take place this Friday, February 14th at the Hilton Santa Barbara Beachfront Resort. More than 500 community and business leaders are anticipated to attend this premier event in support of women’s heart health.

The luncheon will celebrate survivors of cardiovascular disease. Patty Kendrick, mother of college student, Christina Kendrick, will share how hearing 2017 luncheon passion speaker Michele Mallet’s story of surviving a  heart attack prompted her daughter to have her doctor examine her after she realized she was experiencing similar symptoms. Additionally, local cyclist John Hyde will share his experience surviving a “Widow Maker” heart attack. In addition to the luncheon the event will feature a health and wellness expo.

While nearly 80 percent of cardiac events may be prevented, cardiovascular diseases continue to be a woman’s greatest health threat. One in three women is living with some form of cardiovascular disease and it kills one woman about every 80 seconds.

Please find more information in the attached media release. Members of the media are invited to cover the luncheon. I am happy to help coordinate interviews in advance.
