Feb. 1 — United Way of Ventura County’s 4th Annual GradNation Community Summit

United Way Will Gather Parents, Students, Educators, & Community Members to Explore Efforts to Raise Graduation Rates Through Parent Engagement
VENTURA — United Way of Ventura County’s (UWVC) GradNation Summit held annually in South Oxnard is designed to prepare parents and their middle school student for transition to high school and to inform and connect them to available resources and opportunities, with the goal of keeping students on track for high school graduation in underperforming neighborhoods.
The GradNation Summit will be held at 7:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. Saturday, February 1, 2020, at E.O. Green Junior High School in Oxnard.
The theme of the Summit is Student Success You Make It Happen – High School, College and Career and the target audience is families in the Hueneme High School attendance area. A series of interactive workshops will be offered on topics including: Importance of advanced courses; planning
for college and overview of college options; career pathways in high school; how to manage college costs; and causes, symptoms and how to manage stress both for parents and students. The summit will conclude with a resource fair with representatives from 28 community agencies and programs
providing resources for students and families.
Presenting sponsors and partners include Hueneme Elementary School District, Oxnard Union High School District, California Lutheran University, Vista Real Charter High School, CSUCI, Ventura County Office of Education, Ventura County Probation, and Child Development Resources.
