SANTA MARIA — Seven members from Ernest Righetti High School’s Future Business Leaders of America Chapter were able to develop the skills necessary to be lauded at the Gold Coast Section Conference in South Pasadena last Saturday.

FBLA is a national Career Student Technical Organization (CSTO) with the purpose of developing business abilities and knowledge in high school students. At the Righetti Chapter, students go to various business conferences, compete in competitive events, participate in community service, and even learn how to start their own business.

Three students, Lance Barredo, Steven Villanueva, and Neev Vincchi, have qualified for the State Leadership Conference taking place in April in Ontario, California by placing in the top 6 in their events. More students will be participating in events at the state conference.

“We brought a group of dedicated sophomores and annihilated the tests at the Section Leadership Conference, with most of us placing,” notes Lance Barredo, President of the Righetti FBLA Chapter. “Not only was it extremely fun, but through workshops and experiencing our competition clusters, we learned a lot of valuable information. At the state conference, we plan to dominate, become leaders, and truly learn the meaning of business.”

“It was a lot more fun than I imagined,” remarked Matthew Villaruel. “I did not expect much but now I would recommend this experience to anyone!”

Brandon Luu, Chapter Vice President, said, “My experience at the conference was pleasing, considering I was able to network with some of the best business people in the section and expand my knowledge of everything business.”

Neev Vinchhi, who placed 3rd, said, “I was able to meet a lot of new people and pushed myself to reach my goals. I think you both mentally and socially improve by joining the club and trying out weekend trips exactly as I did.”
