SANTA MARIA — Three ERHS students have been selected as the 2021 Boys and Girls State California Delegates and will participate in summer leadership and citizenship programs that focus on exploring the mechanics of American government and politics.
The American Legion Auxiliary sponsors Junior Marissa Cuellar (Girls). The American Legion Orcutt Post 534 sponsors Zachary Monighetti (Boys) and Neev Vinchhi (Boys).
“Being selected delegate for Girls State CA 2021 on behalf of Righetti High School is a great honor and privilege,’’ Cuellar said. “I have always been passionate about being a leader within my school and community, and to have received this opportunity is a true blessing. I am especially excited to have been selected alongside my fellow ASTRA officers! I hope to learn more about what I can do to improve my leadership skills at this year’s event.”
“I am honored and grateful for being selected as the 2021 Boys State Delegate,’’ Monighetti said. “My goal is to learn and absorb as much as I can from this experience to help impact my school and my community in a positive way. I am extremely grateful and excited for this opportunity I have been honored with. I would like to thank Orcutt Legion Post 534 for giving me this opportunity and to be nominated as the 2021 Boys State Delegate. I plan to use what I learned from this experience to help uplift and empower my school and community.’’
“I am honored to have been selected to attend such a prestigious program,’’ Vinchhi said. “I hope to gain a better appreciation for the way that our American political system works from my experience at Boys State.”
Warrior School Counselor Eric Blanco said, “This is a great opportunity for our students to gain valuable leadership skills. I cannot wait to see how they put those skills into action senior year.”
Principal Karen Rotondi agreed, adding, “Zachary, Marissa, and Neev are three of Righetti’s finest students who will no doubt fabulously represent Righetti at the prestigious Boys & Girls State program. I am proud of them and excited for the amazing experience they will have this summer. It is one they will remember their entire lives.’’
