WESTLAKE VILLAGE — Holidays in the Village, A European Marketplace will celebrate the warmth and joy of the holiday season with lots of food, music, kids’ fun, and artisan and craft vendors–all with a European flair. The Marketplace is Sunday, December 12 from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Lakeview Canyon Road and Agoura Road (adjacent to Stonehaus) in Westlake Village. It is being hosted by the two Rotary Clubs of Westlake Village.
“Our goal is to gather our community of friends and family to celebrate the holidays in a warm and joyful setting. We’ve created something unique in replicating a European village filled with festive food, drink, artisan vendors and seasonal entertainment for all to enjoy,” says Erin Culbertson, event co-chair and president-elect of the Rotary Club of Westlake Village.
Visitors can shop for unique holiday gifts offered by over 55 artisan vendors in a fun, family atmosphere. They can browse a large cross-section of items, from chocolates to alpaca yarn to homemade candles, succulents, glass ornaments and curated gift baskets.
“A Holidays in the Village signature booth will offer specialty logoed ornaments, hats, beanies, village bears and our very own holiday beer and wine mugs,” says Culbertson. “If you’re looking for distinctive gifts this year, you’ll find lots to choose from at the Marketplace. Many are handcrafted and one of a kind.”
The European Marketplace features a variety of traditional European foods, baked goods and beverages including Gluehwein (a warm spiced wine), apple cider and hot cocoa. Visitors can enjoy a wide selection of specialty craft brews from local breweries, Tarantula Hill, Five Threads, Enegren Brewing Company and Institution Ale, and selected wines from Stonehaus. Carolers and live music will entertain visitors throughout the day and evening.
There will be plenty of children’s activities. Kris Kringle’s Village will feature Kris Kringle himself, a festive Grinch, a holiday-themed carousel and a village train.
Something uniquely adventurous for families or those young at heart is the Village Bear Scavenger Hunt co-sponsored with Yarrow Family YMCA. Each participant will receive a complimentary teddy bear with a list of riddles and clues to search the Marketplace for hidden Village Bears.
