SANTA MARIA — Delta High School Principal Sal Reynoso personally honored the Valedictorian and Salutatorian on May 21.
Valedictorian Johnny Arguijo and Salutatorian Nancy Elias Lopez received home visits and their respective certificates and medallions.
“The dedication of these outstanding young people is unmatched,’’ Reynoso said. “We just cannot wait to see all the great things they accomplish.’’
Arguijo received the Minerva Scholarship, Scholarship Foundation of Santa Barbara Scholarship and the Kiwanis Club of Santa Maria Honor Student Award. Lopez earned the Breanna Nicole Rodriguez Scholarship, Scholarship Foundation of Santa Barbara Scholarship and the Kiwanis Club of Santa Maria Honor Student Award.

The Valedictorian and Salutatorian are the two highest academic achievers in a high school and the awards are based on a formula calculating GPAs and other efforts.
Other awards handed out yesterday at homes included Student of the Year (Faustino Santiago-Cortez and Ariana Dominquez) and Most Improved (Orlando Bernardino, Alicia Renteria Ramirez and Bertha Zaragoza).
