OXNARD — El Concilio Family Services held its 24th annual Latino Leadership Awards on June 7, 2013 at the Oxnard Performing Arts Center.

Awards went to Haida Jimenez, (a counselor at CSU Channel Islands), Amanda Quintero (a project director at CSU Channel Islands), Miguel Angel Rodriguez, (community organizer for the Central Coast Alliance for a Sustainable Economy — CAUSE) and Amelia Sugden (principal at Haydock Intermediate School), LiUNA (Laborers International Union of North America) Local 585, Padres Promotores de la Educación and Reiter Affiliated Companies–La  Clinica FreSalud.

The President’s Award was presented to the Ventura County Mexican American Bar Association. El Concilio is a nonprofit community service organization whose primary mission is to provide services to the underserved Latino community. The majority of its clients come from the agricultural industry. Since its establishment in 1975, El Concilio has grown to serve on average more than 22,000 clients per year.
