EDC, SBDC: New Disaster Recovery Grants, Resources and Deadlines

FINAL DEADLINE FOR SBA LOW INTEREST LOANS- OCTOBER 15TH
SBA LOW INTEREST LOANS– Low-interest disaster loans from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) are available for businesses of all sizes and private nonprofit organizations. Qualified applicants may borrow up to $2 million to repair or replace damaged or destroyed real estate, machinery and equipment, inventory and other business assets. Economic Injury Disaster loans are available for businesses that may or may not have sustained any damage, but have experienced a downturn in business because of the disaster. The SBA can also lend additional funds to businesses and homeowners to help with the cost of improvements to protect, prevent or minimize the same type of disaster damage from occurring in the future. Disaster loans cover losses not fully compensated by insurance or other recoveries. Applicants may apply online, receive additional disaster assistance information and download applications at SBA Disaster Loan Applicants may also call SBA’s Customer Service Center at (800) 659-2955 or email disastercustomerservice@sba.gov for more information on SBA disaster assistance. Completed applications should be mailed to U.S. Small Business Administration, Processing and Disbursement Center, 14925 Kingsport Road, Fort Worth, TX 76155.Applications must be filed by October 15, 2018.
NEW DISASTER RECOVERY GRANTS AVAILABLE FROM WEV
EDC is proud to announce a special opportunity for small and minority businesses that were adversely impacted by the Thomas Fire and Debris Flows that affected Ventura and Santa Barbara counties beginning on December 4, 2017. Thanks to the generous contribution of Wells Fargo, Women’s Economic Ventures (WEV) is pleased to offer business recovery grants of up to $10,000 to eligible businesses.
You may be eligible if your business suffered from:
  • Lost revenue due to closures and/or changed and disrupted customer patterns
  • Suspension of operations
  • Plant, property, and equipment damages
  • Damaged inventory
  • Other direct/indirect costs relating to the disasters
Diverse small businesses (e.g. women, minority, veterans, LGBTQ,-owned) are particularly encouraged to apply. WEV will be offering the following free information sessions to learn more about this opportunity:

ADDITIONAL BUSINESS RECOVERY AND DEVELOPMENT RESOURCES
ONE ON ONE TECHICAL ADVISING- The Small Business Development Center (SBDC) hosted by the Economic Development Collaborative, provides NO-COST advising and workshops to small business owners in Santa Barbara and Ventura counties.
DISASTER RESPONSE MICRO LOAN AND FINANCING- As a community-based lender, EDC offers both new and existing businesses a wide range of loan products up to $250,000 to help ensure competitive growth for businesses in many different types of industries. In addition to our traditional SBDC loan funds, the SBDC is offering micro loans from $5,000- $30,000 at 4% interest through our Fire Disaster Loan Fund to give a cash flow boost to businesses impacted by reduced sales or lost inventory due to the Thomas Fire.
