Downtown Sol in Oxnard to present Xanath art opening on Sept. 19

OXNARD — Downtown Sol will present the Xanath art opening, “The Art of Living with Style,” from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19 at 328 W. Third St., Oxnard.

Xanath, a blend of Mexican & contemporary art, is collaboratively created by Laura Elena Gomez Garcia, José Ramon Gil Vásquez, and Alejandro Hernández.

About the artists:

Laura Elena Gomez Garcia (Gogar) — Born in Minatitlan, Veracruz, Laura, signed Gogar, earned her bachelor’s degree in fine arts at Puebla State University.  Her art has been featured in both individual and group shows, as well as at Centro Banamex and at the World Trade Center in Mexico City.  She now teaches Fine Arts at Puebla State University.

José Ramon Gil Vásquez (Gil) — Born in Mexico City, Gil settled in Puebla. He eventually graduated from the school of Chemical Engineering.  Since 2002, he has been dedicated to making paintings with his wife, Gogar.  Jose is primarily interested in abstract work and harmony of colors in simple geometric shapes.

Alejandro Hernández (Alex) — Alex grew up bi-culturally in both Santa Monica and Morelia and Puebla, México.  He became a teacher in Fillmore in the year 2000 and is now a Spanish Instructor at Ventura College. His love for the Spanish language and the diverse cultures with fused with his appreciation for art.  While on a trip to Mexico, Alex found amazing and unique art work done by Gogar & Gil.  He began working with them to create one-of-a-kind designs based on local decoration trends, hence the birth of Xanath Art Gallery, USA.

Fifty unique pieces will be on display, with special pricing for opening day only! Wine & Hors d’oeuvres provided.
